Getting married soon? Shubman Gill’s awkward reaction to Danny Morrison’s question

Shubman Gill became awkward after commentator Danny Morrison playfully teased him during the pre-match chat before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday, April 21 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

“You’re looking good, wedding bells around the corner? Getting married soon?” Morrison asked with a grin after the Knight Riders won the toss and opted to field first.

The unexpected personal question clearly made Gill a bit uncomfortable, as he shifted his posture. Gill, momentarily caught off guard, looked slightly awkward before quickly brushing it off with a smile. “No, nothing like that,” he replied, laughing nervously.

The light-hearted moment drew chuckles from the audience and added flair to the pre-match banter.

Cricket fans in India reacted to the moment and criticised Morrison for asking personal questions instead of focusing on the game itself.

Gill has had a decent campaign with the bat thus far, having scored 215 runs from seven games at an average of 35.83 and a strike-rate of 149.30 with two fifties and a top score of 61 not out to his name.

The Titans are sitting at the top of the table with 10 points and a net run rate of +0.984 thanks to wins in five out of seven matches. They are in good form after beating Delhi Capitals (DC) by seven wickets in their previous game on April 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
