CCTV footage threw up a new twist in the Bengaluru road rage incident involving an IAF officer. The video shows the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) officer also attacking his alleged assaulter, confirming that both were involved in a physical confrontation.

The footage, accessed by India Today, showed Wing Commander Aditya Bose and his wife approaching a man in a neon green jacket. In the video, the officer appeared to have initiated the physical assault, with his wife also seen engaging in verbal abuse..

One footage showed Bose pushing the man onto the road and repeatedly kicking and hitting him. Onlookers can be seen trying to stop Bose.

Earlier in the day, in two separate videos uploaded on social media, Wing Commander Aditya Bose accused a local resident of attacking him and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita, while they were en route to catch an airport bus. Bose said a biker stopped their car and began hurling abuse in Kannada.

The situation, Bose said, escalated when the biker noticed a DRDO sticker on their vehicle and allegedly cursed at them. When Bose stepped out, the biker reportedly struck him on the forehead with a key, causing bleeding. Others joined in, and one person allegedly hit him with a stone.

In the video, a visibly injured Bose said: “A bike came from behind and stopped our car. The guy started abusing me in Kannada. When they saw the DRDO sticker, they said ‘You DRDO people’ and abused my wife. The moment I got out, the biker hit me with a key on my forehead, and there was blood.”

As Bose had to leave for Kolkata, he didn’t file a complaint, but Madhumita later lodged one at Baiyappanahalli Police Station. An FIR was filed, and the accused was arrested.

In her complaint, Madhumita alleged the biker was riding rashly, banged on their car with his leg and a stone, and said: “You’re from the DRDO, I can see the sticker. This is Kannada land; just watch what I do.”

However, CCTV footage later surfaced, showing Bose as the alleged initiator of the confrontation, flipping the narrative.

In the CCTV footage, Bose can be seen grappling with the man while passersby try to intervene and break the two apart. Another footage showed Bose having a chokehold on his alleged attacker.

A woman in a blue t-shirt, presumably Bose’s wife Madhumita, can also be seen trying to intervene.

Another angle showed Bose dragging the fight onto the road and assaulting the man in the neon green jacket. The woman can be seen running back to the man and verbally attacking him with pointed fingers. Bose can be seen returning to support the woman and attack the man further.

“At around 6 AM, an altercation occurred between a biker and an IAF officer, who was traveling from his residence at the DRDO quarters to the airport… We have checked the CCTV footage, and it’s evident that the incident could have been avoided by both sides. It is a clear case of road rage. We have lodged a complaint and arrested the biker,” DCP East Devaraj D said.
